2020 Preseason
1. Campbell County (20-16) – The Lady Camels’ recent dominance continues as 2020 marks the third straight year coach Kennedy Berkley’s club sits atop the preseason rankings. In each of the last two seasons a team passed Campbell County for a few weeks late in the regular season only to see the Lady Camels’ rally to capture the 10th Region Tournament title and return to the top spot. Six letter winners are back from last fall, including the “1016sports’ Terrific 26 to Watch” trio of senior middle blocker Olivia Crowl (2.91 kills per set, 1.23 blocks per set), junior outside hitter/right-side hitter Rylee McKinney (2.85 kps, 3.63 digs per set, 0.67 service aces per set) and senior setter Ella Schloemer (7.71 assists per set, 2.66 dps, 0.37 saps). This group of Lady Camels are more noted for their defensive prowess, finishing sixth in the state in blocks per set (3.93) and 26th in digs per set (16.06) in 2019. Martin was a “1016sports’ Terrific 26” selection in 2019, while Russell earned accolades as the “1016sports’ Unsung Hero of the Year Runner-Up.” Senior defensive specialist/libero Madison Pond (3.78 dps), senior defensive specialist/right-side hitter Natalie Smith (1.97 dps) and sophomore outside hitter/right-side hitter Bailey Beiting (0.60 bps) are the other key returnees, with both Pond and Smith having started in 2019.
