2018 Preseason
1. Campbell County (17-18) – The Camels get the edge for the top spot this season because the 10th Region coaches voted them as the pre-season favorite. Had that not been the case, Harrison County would be in their place. Truthfully, 2018 may be a difficult year for 1016sports teams. There are no standouts and the overall talent pool is as thin as it has been in years. That said, Coach Kennedy Berkley’s Campbell County squad does have several quality players: junior middle hitter Kasey Martin (2.2 kills per set, .346 hitting percentage, 1.15 blocks per set), sophomore middle blocker/right side hitter Olivia Crowl (1.2 kps, 0.74 bps), senior defensive specialists/liberos Elena McCleary (3.64 digs per set) and Hannah Wells (0.48 saps, 5.77 dps), senior outside hitters Elyse Wieland (2.2 kps, 0.36 saps, 5.25 dps) and Karli Siry (1.4 kps), and senior setter Lauren Vineyard (0.60 service aces per set, 3.6 assists per set). The 2017 club had an up-and-down season, but a total of 10 players return and with that experience they should benefit from the continuity. Harrison County is an intriguing team. The Fillies will be as talented as anyone in the history of the 10th Region not located in suburban Cincinnati. Everyone returns from a club that won its first 34 matches of the 2017 season. Long-time frontrunner Scott lost virtually its entire lineup from last fall, but still will be competitive against the rest of the 1016sports’ field.
