Welcome to 1016sports' 2018-19 preseason "To Watch" Lists for softball players in the 10th and 16th Regions. Below are individuals who were named to one of two lists: "The Terrific 26 to Watch" or "10 Future Stars". Both were determined by input from coaches, various organizations, last year's stats and team results, as well as my own observations.
The lists include players from the 33 softball programs in the two regions (no team at Rose Hill, plus the addition of Wolfe County). They are not ranked, merely listed in alphabetical order. The list is simply an opportunity to showcase some of the top talent and up-and-coming talent throughout Northeastern Kentucky.
All players were eligible for the "Terrific 26". The "10 Future Stars" were limited to those who are sophomores or younger, played little last year and are either expected to play a big role this year or could have a breakout season. Previous years' "Future Stars" were not considered as repeat candidates.
As always, there were more deserving candidates than spots. Dozens of individuals were nominated or considered, but cutoffs were made at 26 and 10. Simply because someone was not included does not mean that individual is not one of the top players in the area. The lists were not meant to demean or discredit players who were not selected, nor were they done to put undo pressure on those who were chosen.
Remember, the lists are done purely for fun. No other organization collectively highlights individuals and teams from these regions.
Below are the respective lists.
