2015-16 Preseason
1. Greenup County (33-11) – There was little doubt as to who would enter the season at No. 1. The Musketeers advanced to the state semifinals last spring and literally return every player. The talented roster features a batting lineup full of “1016sports’ 26 to Watch” contenders, along with as dominant a pitching staff (which completed the 2015 regular season with a 1.71 team ERA) as any in the Bluegrass. Highlighting the returnees is second-team all-state selection catcher Brody Shoupe, and pitchers Ethan Coldiron, Kyle Gammon, Jaxon Keeton and Christian Wireman. Nine of the 21 players on the pre-season roster are seniors, making this season’s Musketeers a frontrunner to capture the school’s first state title (and third for a 1016sports’ squad this century). It will not be a walkover for coach Greg Logan’s Musketeers however, 2016 figures to be one of the strongest years ever for the 1016sports area with a handful of other teams strong contenders to capture the hardware at Whitaker Bank Park this June.
