2017 Preseason
1. Scott (31-9) – The Eagles are in a bit of a rebuilding mode, since the team only returns six players from last season. In addition, senior setter Jordan Tapp has chosen to not play this year. However, Scott does return the best player in the 1016sports area in senior outside hitter Kelly Franxman. Senior defensive specialist/right-side hitter Lindsey Fox is also back as are junior middle blockers Summer Secrist and middle blocker Gabby Kallmeyer. Coach Andrea Sullivan believes rising star Keaton Mossman will take over admirably for Tapp. The fact that the Eagles remain atop the 1016sports preseason poll says volumes about the state of volleyball in Kentucky. Northern Kentucky and Louisville-based schools just play at a much higher level than the rest of the state. However, Scott is not being anointed No. 1 by default. Franxman, Fox, Secrist, Kallmeyer and Mossman are a formidable force. The best news is that again coach Sullivan has reloaded the cupboard with promising youth. Six newcomers, including freshman outside hitter Elise Henderson, should step in and keep the Eagles atop the area for years to come.
