2015-16 Preseason
1. George Rogers Clark (22-9) – The Lady Cardinals are used to being at the top of the heap. GRC qualified for the state tournament in 2014 and dropped a 2-1 decision to host Montgomery County (in which the Indians scored twice in the top of the sixth) in last year’s regional championship. Despite the graduation of second-team all-state pitcher Jenna Edwards, do not expect a significant dropoff at the position. Freshman Courtney Miles could be the next star hurler in the 1016sports area. A strong senior class that includes outfielders Madison Norton and Jessica Neal, infielders Megan Terrell and Emily Harrison, and catcher Erin Carrus, will help carry the offensive load, as will sophomore speedster Claire Brandenburg. Besides Edwards, only one starter is gone from coach Matt Puckett’s 2015 squad which averaged 5.6 runs per game, while allowing just 2.5.
