2016 Preseason
1. Raceland (10-3) – In spite of the graduations of seemingly all of the Rams’ most productive players of 2016, Raceland demonstrated it was the best of the 12 1016sports’ teams at the EKC Grid-o-rama and that it will have no problem stepping back onto the top rung among area teams. Coach Michael Salmons will turn to playmakers Dalton Adkins, Judd Adkins and Damon Black to lead the offense. Black, a senior quarterback/defensive back, gained 178 yards on the ground and 229 yards through the passing game last year. Junior running back/defensive back Judd Adkins is the team’s top returning rusher with 343 yards on 68 attempts in 2016. Junior wide receiver/defensive back Dalton Adkins transferred to the school after rushing for 474 yards and passing for 513 yards last season for Boyd County. He will be a key component in all phases of the game, including as the team’s punter. Senior Cameron Webb and sophomore Gunnur Lewis will add weapons to the passing game and in the defensive backfield. Seniors Tyus Ferguson and Justin Fairchild are the most experienced Rams on the offensive and defensive lines, positions that include multiple players seeing their first significant roles on the varsity. Senior kicker Luke Lemaster returns to anchor the special teams. Last fall, he converted 42 extra points and two field goals.
