Welcome to 1016sports' 2015-16 preseason "To Watch" Lists for boys' and girls' basketball players in the 10th and 16th Regions. Below are individuals who were named to one of two lists: "The Terrific 26 to Watch" or "10 Future Stars", which were determined by input from coaches, various publications, last year's stats and team results, as well as my own observations.
The lists include players from the 34 boys' and girls' programs in the two regions (plus the addition of Wolfe County). They are not ranked, merely listed in alphabetical order. The list is merely an opportunity to showcase some of the top talent and up-and-coming talent throughout Northeastern Kentucky.
All players were eligible for the "Terrific 26". The "10 Future Stars" were limited to those who are sophomores or younger, played in less than half of his/her team's games last year and are either expected to play a big role this year or could have a breakout season. Previous years' "Future Stars" were not considered as repeat candidates.
These lists were not mutually exclusive. Dozens of individuals were considered, but cutoffs were made at 26 and 10. Simply because someone was not included does not mean that individual is not one of the top players in the area. The lists were not meant to demean or discredit players who were not selected, nor were they done to put undo pressure on those who were chosen.
Remember, the lists are done purely for fun. No other organization collectively highlights individuals and teams from these regions.
With that said, here are this year's lists:
